PIPE FAQs

Polybutylene Pipes Should Be Replaced

If your home was built between the late 1970’s and mid 1990’s, your plumbing system may include polybutylene pipes.  Polybutylene pipes have an unusually high rate of failure under normal operating conditions.  Oxidants in the public water supplies, such as chlorine, can react with the polybutylene and acetyl fittings causing them to scale, flake and become brittle.  Pipe failure can be catastrophically expensive, not to mention emotionally draining. Our goal at Battlefield Plumbing is to provide the best service possible when replacing your polybutylene with industry preferred copper or CPVC.

About Copper

Copper is one of the best materials available when replacing Polybutylene. Battlefield Plumbing specializes in the replacement of Polybutylene by using copper. Our team replaces your pipes at low cost, leaving you with a clean and long lasting system for your home.

About CPVC

Another way of replacing Polybutylene at homes is by using the CPVC piping system. The CPVC is another replacement system that can be installed at a low cost. The CPVC (Chlorinated Poly) is a thermoplastic pipe and fitting materials made with CPVC compound, making it suitable for hot and cold water distribution around the house.

About Galvanized

In addition to Polybutylene replacement (pipe and fitting failure) and copper (pinholes caused by bad water treatment), we also work in the replacement of Galvanized systems. Older houses sometimes were plumbed with this material, as a result the water gets contaminated by the metal and pressure loss caused by the pipe corroding from the inside.   Even if the pipes look to be in good condition, most likely the inside of the pipes would possibly be corroded causing low water pressure, bad taste and sometimes some yellowish color to the water.
